Elden Ring: Obtaining ammunition and ranged weapons

From the moment I began playing

From the moment I began playing Elden Ring, I have been mostly focused on ranged weaponry. Granted, acquisition was pointless since the class I selected already has one by default. Regarding everything else, well, let's just say that managers like using the word "cheese." This is our Elden Ring guide to help you get ammunition and ranged weapons, such as crossbows and bows.

Take note: See our Elden Ring guides and features hub for further details.

Elden Ring guide: Where to get ammunition and ranged weapons

In Elden Ring, there are already two classes that begin with ranged weapons. These two are the Samurai and the Bandit. Good for you if you chose them, since you could easily improve their standard weapons to make them more effective. It's inevitable that you will look for the other courses.

Take note: Generally speaking, crossbows employ strength, whereas bows depend mostly on dexterity. Of course, there are things that employ Faith as a stat stick, as well as exceptions to the general norm.

The reason you should always have a bow or crossbow close at hand is because they have the ability to make many situations seem unimportant. While battling the Tree Sentinel or Flying Dragon Agheel, did you find a secure place to hide? Now proceed to snipe them. Struggling against Erdtree Avatars while attempting to remain mobile? Play some mounted archery on Torrent.

Boss scripts allow for the manipulation of the AI's pathing and aggro range. As they won't respawn or regenerate HP until you die or rest at a Site of Grace, this might let you shoot them from a distance. It can even lead them to despawn or reset.

Better still, merchant NPCs are a great source of inexpensive basic ammo (bolts or arrows). Your current rune count determines the maximum number they may sell at any one moment, so if you need more, feel free to consult our rune farming guide. Similarly, ammunition is limited to 99x pieces for the most part, although anything beyond that will go into storage. As a result, anytime you visit a Site of Grace, you'll have all the arrows and bolts you need. If you have the necessary supplies, you may make them as well. Just remember to include them in your inventory as equipped.

In any event, I won't enumerate every ranged weapon in Elden Ring for the sake of clarity. I will, however, point out a few respectable choices that you may get really quickly.

Shortbow

A merchant is seated behind a rock structure close to Limgrave's Coastal Cave entrance. The cost of the Shortbow is 600 runes.

Talisman of Arrow's Reach and Soldier's Crossbow

This means that you have to go on a little bit till you get to the Gatefront. After that, you'll have to avoid many troops and a troll.

After reaching the summit of the inclining trail, turn away instead of going to Stormhill Shack. Rather, retrace your steps and follow the slope back to the ramparts.

Together with a few crossbowmen, there is a barbarian present. There's a possibility the Soldier's Crossbow will drop to one of the two mobs.

To get the Arrow’s Reach Talisman, open this chest. It increases your bows' effective range so they can inflict respectable damage from a greater distance.

Hand Ballista

Next, the Weeping Peninsula is located to the south of Limgrave. The Forest Lookout Tower is to the east and over the bridge. Reach the summit and unlock the chest to get the Hand Ballista.

Crossbow Light

The Castle Morne Rampart bonfire is located a few ways down the main road to the south. The Light Crossbow is available from the vendor for 1,500 runes.
