Elden Ring: How to defeat the hidden boss, Astel Naturalborn of the Void

One of the hidden bosses in

One of the hidden bosses in Elden Ring is Astel Naturalborn of the Void. Once you've overcome the crippling effects of the Lake of Rot, you may battle it; to do so, look for a coffin near the brink of a cliff. Your character climbs in when you interact with it, taking you to a different area. To assist you in taking down this hidden monster in the Lake of Rot, here is our Elden Ring Astel Naturalborn of the Void guide.

guide: How to defeat the mystery boss, Astel Naturalborn of the Void

Consider Elden Ring's Astel Naturalborn of the Void monster as a hybrid of Rykard Lord of Blasphemy and Starscourge Radahn. because of its assaults. Similar to the Rockslinger Demons you've faced, this celestial scorpion has various lethal skills, albeit many of them are obvious. Furthermore, remember that I conducted this duel only using ranged combat.

Elden Ring Phase 1 of the Astel Naturalborn of the Void boss fight

Astel Naturalborn of the Void is capable of the following:

  • Tail Strike – When it raises the rear of its body, it will go for a strike that reaches the full length of the arena, so make sure to avoid this. It will follow up with a second strike that will miss as long as you’re already further away from it.
  • Void Beam – This is similar to Radahn’s laser blast. As usual, roll as it’s about to hit you so you don’t get damaged. Sometimes, it might also miss, hitting the ground if you roll as it’s shooting.
,
  • Void Swipe – It creates several circular explosions around its arm, but I’ve never gotten hit by this since I’m sniping it from a distance.
  • Teleport Lunge – This is one move that you need to watch out for. When Astel creates a large black hole where it’s standing, it means it’ll teleport. Sometimes, it’ll reappear in the same location. But, chances are, it’ll also spawn next to you. This is followed by a lunge attack where it’ll bite you several times. You’ll want to predict its movement, then roll just as it’s lunging so you don’t get grabbed. After this sequence, it’ll reappear back at its previous position.
,, andElden Ring Phase 2 of the Astel Naturalborn of the Void boss battle

At phase 2/below 50% HP, Astel acquires another lethal ability. All I call it is the Shower of Meteors. Essentially, a chain of boulders will materialize in the heavens above the monster and descend onto your position. It's similar to what Rykard does in phase 2, but because of how it impacts your character, it's easier to handle.

You might attempt one of these:

  • Blocking – Make sure you’ve got a full bar. At least three meteors will hit you, eating through your stamina and part of your HP.
  • Dodging – Dodge just as the meteors are flying to your location. You will get hit by at least one of them. But, this animation will also prevent the rest from hitting you. One meteor impact is enough to take out 60% of your HP (I had roughly 1,500 at the time). As such, it’s all a matter of rolling, getting hit, healing, then shooting the boss again.

Before it casts the Meteor Shower again, make sure every photo counts. It shouldn't take long for you to prevail in this attrition-based conflict.

Astel Naturalborn of the Void is defeated in Elden Ring brings you the Naturalborn's Remembrance. Present this to Enia during the Roundtable Hold in return for one of the following:

  • Ash of War: Waves of Darkness – A weapon skill that can be applied on greataxes, warhammers, and colossal weapons.
  • Bastard’s Stars (flail) – Requires STR 8, DEX 22, and INT 22; scales with STR E, DEX D, and INT C.

And there's more: there will be a blockage on the route past the boss. You will be allowed to pass through, however, if you have previously obtained the Dark Moon Ring from Rennala's treasure chest in Raya Lucaria. This leads to the Moonlight Altar, which is, you guessed it, another hidden region.
