Many gamers have been curious as to why Bethesda decided to design away any ground-based vehicles for your avatar to ride on after learning that Starfieldtotally eliminates them. Luckily for those gamers, Todd Howard, the director of Starfield and executive producer at Bethesda, recently spoke with Bloomberg about the issue. Howard's remark may be heard at 3:00 in the interview, which is available lower down this page.
When Ed Ludlow, co-host of Bloomberg Technology, inquired about the absence of grounded vehicles, Howard said that Bethesda had thought about adding that feature, but that it would change the gameplay. According to Howard, this allows developers to better manage when players may view certain spots of interest since players travel the world mostly on foot.
There are several forms of transportation.
As Howard points out, players may, of course, ride spacecraft that are used to travel between planets, but it certainly serves a different purpose than what ground vehicles would be able to. Howard did point out that when it comes to exploring a planet's surface, players do have access to an upgradeable jetpack, which is capable of achieving almost all of the same transportation-related objectives as a vehicle.
Howard also said that each of the Starfield's planets has a different gravity, which might provide some unique flavor to environmental traversal. This feature doesn't really relate to the topic of grounded vehicles on the surface, but it does show that Starfield'straversal entails more than simply aimlessly moving from place to place.
There is a possibility that at some time in the future, Starfield may include ground vehicles, either via a straightforward update or a DLC expansion. However, given that this was a deliberate omission, don't be shocked if the creators maintain their position on it throughout the duration of the game.
