Many questions come up now that Guerrilla's game is accessible on the PC. Can I play this game on my PC without it catching fire? Will my Steam Deck be compatible with Horizon Forbidden West? It depends on the first one, but let's find out about the second.
With your Steam Deck, is it possible to play Horizon Forbidden West?
Now that the primary Horizon game series has been made available on PC, Many players have already experienced playing Forbidden West from the comfort of their Steam Deck with Zero Dawn, and they are already eager to replicate that experience with its sequel. Perhaps someday we will see the VR game Call of the Mountain with expanded VR headset support. Thankfully, the creators have stated that Horizon Forbidden West is compatible with and played on Steam Decks globally.
The developers had announced, among other things, that the game will accept controllers and work with Steam Decks before to its release. Though I still find it amusing when PlayStation games are played with an Xbox controller, Horizon Forbidden West supports the following complete list of controllers:
Controller support for Horizon Forbidden West
- DualSense (PlayStation 5)
- DualSense Edge (PlayStation 5)
- DualShock 4 (PlayStation 4)
- Xbox One
- Xbox 360
- XInput compatible controllers
- Steam Deck
As you can see, Steam Deck is shown as a controller that is fully supported, and it is likely to function similarly to Zero Dawn. Naturally, it translates to 720p at a maximum frame rate of 30 fps. While I do love my 4K 144hz master race mumbo jumbo, Forbidden West is a gorgeous and contemporary game that is perfect for on-the-go play, which is a nice aspect for many new players who are unfamiliar with the brand.

Just be sure to adjust the graphics quality to meet your expectations for stability and remember the system requirements that the developers have supplied for Forbidden West. It is likely that you will need to adjust to a Low or Very Low preset, so experiment with each option until you see a little improvement in the appearance of your experience. Savor the base Burning Shores and Forbidden West. growth while traveling on an aircraft or when stopped in traffic.
