With the Apple Vision Pro, Apple has finally entered the VR headset (sorry, spatial computing) industry and is now competitively challenging Meta Quest 3. The usually enormous price tag, meanwhile, could be too optimistic. The facts must be stated when comparing your VR and augmented reality solutions.

The Fundamentals

The fundamentals of both headsets start them out quite differently. The far more affordable Meta Quest 3 only costs between $499 and $650, compared to the astronomically costly Apple Vision Pro, which retails for $3,500. I was prepared to see the Apple product's outrageous price. Apple often inflates its prices dramatically to convey the impression that it is the market leader. Something like the Emperor's New Clothes. People are often led to believe that they are purchasing innovative, high-quality goods by the outrageous prices. Seldom is this the case.

The image of Apple is .The Meta Quest 3 wins again when it comes to weight, weighing a whole 136G less than the 650G Apple Vision Pro. However, there are valid reasons for this, such as the materials and construction quality. We will find that lighter does not always equate to better. Less is better, however, if you want to use a VR headset for the whole day.

Looks

It's not that I've always liked white technology. It seems cheap to me, and with usage, it becomes gray and filthy easily. I think the sleek, black design of the Apple Vision Pro is considerably superior in terms of aesthetics. But aesthetics encompasses more than simply looks.Build Quality

Even though they are durable polymers, The Meta Quest 3 is constructed with them. This is in contrast to the Apple Vision Pro, which has a much nicer-looking metal and glass construction. Presumably for comfort and weight savings, the Meta Quest 3 opted for a lighter, plastic construction. Although wearing this option is undoubtedly considerably more comfortable, quality is sacrificed. The premium metal and glass shell of the Apple Vision Pro is characteristic of Apple's generally simple design aesthetic. It also shouts "3.5K" in your face, but that's just a benefit of being an Apple fan. However, the VR headset does become rather heavy due to these higher-quality materials, which makes prolonged usage considerably less pleasant.

Apparel

There is a vast array of accessories available for purchase, just as with other Apple devices. But they are exclusive to Apple and will always be very expensive. Since the Meta Quest is already in its third generation, there are a plethora of creative and reasonably priced third-party choices available on the market. For the Meta Quest 3 VR headset, there is a low-cost third-party alternative available if you need a new head strap, replaceable face cushions, or better wiring. You will have to purchase the Apple Vision Pro from the restricted Apple line if you want to make any changes. The image is called Meta.Meta Quest 3's joysticks have seen significant upgrades, including the addition of an F1-style halo that surrounds the hand for protection and tracking. Without these, the Meta Quest 3 may still be used, but hand tracking is not as dependable.Apple now uses hand tracking and has done away with the controllers entirely. Overall, this is a really practical substitute. But using a virtual keyboard won't be the same after that. Fortunately, all you have to do is use your Mac or buy a real one from Apple, for whatever much that may cost.

Power Source

All fine and good, but what good is it if the augmented reality office you wear on your face lasts little longer than a full-length movie? For truly wireless VR experiences, battery life is still a problem with these very demanding headsets, and one of them definitely outperforms the other.Since the Meta Quest 3 has been available for a while, players have had the opportunity to stress test it. Unfortunately, the battery life falls short of what is expected. It has been observed that whilst locking into AR drains the power in 90 minutes, playing games and watching movies may deplete the battery in around two hours. I've discovered by reading through forums and discussions that the stated time is also a little off. A few players of Meta Quest 3 are draining their batteries in under fifteen minutes. The image of Apple is
.As of this writing, Apple has only been selling the Vision Pro for a few days, but their battery life seems to be much more under control. It was an intriguing decision to place the battery pack outside in a pocket, and it worked. The Apple Vision Pro's battery may be charged while on the road, despite its short battery life of two to four hours. Rather of sitting and plugging in, you could theoretically daisy link more battery packs to the original.

Connect

One way to keep using either headset is to just connect it into a power source. Despite having a rapid charge connector, the Meta Quest 3 charges almost as quickly as it depletes. Battery life of 15 minutes at full charge. With its remote battery, the Apple Vision Pro is significantly more convenient to charge while on the road.

Voice & Sound

When comparing the Apple Vision Pro to the Meta Quest 3, it's the display and audio that make all the difference. Numerous headsets, such as the PSVR2, have had a variety of display problems, such as poor quality and hazy pictures. The picture must always be very clear if extended use of any type is anticipated.

Vision

The Apple Vision Pro wins in terms of picture quality and pass-through. Its field of vision is just 95 degrees, as opposed to Quest 3's 110, but the quality is much higher. I believe the problem stems from the caliber of the chipsets and front-facing cameras.Apple's chipset is outstanding for the tasks that need it for the Vision Pro. Some testers have used the M2 and R1 chipsets to analyze pictures quickly and with such high resolution that they have been able to cook, play ping pong, and ski while wearing the headset. While there have been complaints of some discoloration and pixelation in low light, generally the experience is more than acceptable. The image is called Meta. The Meta Quest 3 does poorly in these same tests. The Meta Quest 3 can achieve a framerate of 120 Hz, which is greater than the Apple Vision Pro's 90 Hz, but the quality isn't quite there. The colors are muted, and pixelation is clearly visible. The peripheral details are also unclear due to the absence of eye tracking. In order to concentrate, the head must be physically rotated.Apple Vision Pro makes amazing use of its eye tracking feature. The Apple Vision Pro can refocus based on where the eye stares, while the Meta Quest 3 has serious problems with focus in the periphery of the eye line. Motion sickness and eye strain may be significantly reduced while using this for extended periods of time or when out and about.Pancake lenses, as opposed to Fresnel lenses, have significantly improved the Meta Quest 3's eyesight. Less glare, distortion, and eye strain are the effects of this. But I believe that the pass-through has to be rectified before we can take the next step. The Meta Quest 3's display has significantly improved and will keep getting better thanks to the upgrades that have been released since its debut.

Music

You can often count on Apple to take out all the stops and provide high-quality audio. This also applies to the Apple Vision Pro. The in-strap headphones provide incredibly immersive surroundings with crystal-clear spatial audio. The Meta Quest 3's effort at in-strap spatial audio, however, lags a little. The Meta Quest 3's integrated microphones are a vast improvement over those of the previous model. They still sound a little muffled and compressed, however. With a balanced microphone that performs well under a variety of circumstances, the Apple Vision Pro once again hits the mark when it comes to sound quality.

Consistency

It's all well and well to feel, look, and smell wonderful, but what good are they if they serve no useful purpose? It is a wonderful idea for the future to integrate virtual reality into daily gaming and socializing as well as the workplace. But are these virtual reality headsets really useful for anything? Is it time to put down our screens and buckle up?The image is called Meta. There are two distinct markets for the Meta Quest 3 and the Apple Vision Pro. In my opinion, the Apple Vision Pro is more yuppie and attractive to the digital businessman of the future, while the Meta Quest 3 seems to be attempting to be the master of all crafts. The digital work environmentApple's headgear really lives up to its label of Spatial Computing; they have mastered the aspect of working environment augmentation. Suddenly, the world becomes a workplace unlike anything you've ever seen while you are wearing the Apple Vision Pro. You may completely encircle oneself with windows, tabs, calendars, and functions of various sizes while using a Mac. Your surroundings becomes your workplace with only a physical keyboard, some basic finger and eye motions, and your gaze. Such a realistic and immersive augmented reality for work has never been seen before. This is mostly due to the technologies Apple concealed in the Vision Pro. You can just gaze at windows and buttons and neatly interact with them with a pinch or flick because to the excellent use of eye and hand tracking. The floating keyboard is obviously terrible. It will never feel the same to type without the tactile input of a real keyboard. We're still very early in the development of the Apple Vision Pro. But I think it might really improve the digital workplace by eliminating the need for several displays. The Meta Quest 3 never makes a show of how good it is as an online workplace. Although it can do some work, the real-world applications of this are seldom mentioned. Apple has invested a great deal of effort and resources in developing workspace-focused Apple environments. To even get close, Meta will need to catch up to the decades-long workplace concentration.Games and Apps

There are no games on Apple. I don't think it really makes a difference to even bring things up. They already have it covered with the Steam compatibility of Meta Quest 3. But even at this early stage, the Apple Vision Pro comes with several excellent apps..

Video Games

For those who like virtual reality gaming headsets—which I definitely do—the Meta Quest 3 is the perfect option. There are other choices available as well, such the highly anticipated Bigscreen Beyond and PSVR2. But for the time being, let's examine the Meta Quest 3.The image of Apple is .The games that the Meta Quest 3 can run on its own are restricted. Additionally, it is simple to connect to a PC by cable or airlink to take advantage of the many opportunities that Steam and other platforms provide. Although certain games are limited to specific headsets, the list is still rather extensive. The Meta Quest 3 is the ideal headgear for anybody wishing to get into VR gaming because of its built-in technology and ability to deliver complete immersion. Gaming in 4K at 120 Hz has never been better. The improvements in this area over Meta Quest 2 do not, however, warrant the upgrade.Although the Apple Vision Pro is not a device meant for gamers like us, it does come with a small selection of games, like Cut the Rope and one or two more. There's a high likelihood that the Apple Vision Pro will eventually be cracked to broadcast Steam games. But like with other Apple things, there aren't any games available right now.

Apps

Apple really thrives in apps, and it will always do so. They now offer a ton of amazing, immersive applications that are made just for the Apple Vision Pro. These include basic floating clock widgets for keeping track of the time and augmented reality culinary apps. Additionally, the Apple Vision Pro's deep, cinematic experiences seem to be unrivaled. The Meta Quest 3 seems like you're wearing your phone on the front of your glasses because of this.Apple has set out to develop a Spatial Workspace that offers you all the office's amenities and applications at all times. These depend on every app you typically keep open on your phone, in plain sight. They have been excellent at this, and I anticipate much more from them. With the Siri virtual assistant, everything of the world is accessible with only a voice command.

A Pass-Through Lifestyle

The Meta Quest 3 and Apple Vision Pro have chosen to include augmented reality into their virtual reality headsets using a pass-through method. This depends on cameras pointing forward and downhill to scan the surroundings and provide a picture to the displays. The picture is captured and replayed with the required overlays, as opposed to being superimposed by transparent lenses. This requires real-time information relaying and processing power. The image is named Meta.Outstanding reaction speed, spatial awareness, and almost imperceptible playing via the Pass-Through mechanism have all been mentioned in reviews of the Apple Vision Pro. It maps and builds as it goes, swiftly and fluidly capturing the area around you. Textures and distance are seldom problematic. The headset's latest R1 microprocessor is doing a great job and produces a very lifelike and immersive experience. There is still some catching up for the Meta Quest 3 in terms of pass-through technology. It often needs to remap a space. After that, you have to navigate a room while remapping and recalibrating to locate objects. It may also have trouble differentiating between objects in your field of vision and those in the distance.

Meta Quest 3 or Apple Vision Pro

It's important to remember that the Apple Vision Pro is only the first iteration of the company's virtual reality headsets. Undoubtedly, the VR headgear has been in existence for years, but it is still the first one available for purchase. Despite its shortcomings, Apple values its customers and takes pleasure in the goods it produces. They have no intention of releasing a Google Glass parody. Despite its shortcomings, the Apple Vision Pro has emerged from the woodworking with much promise for the future.Image: MetaThe Meta Quest has dominated the market for far too long, and even while it's a great headset right now given its price, it's encouraging to see Zuck breaking out. With any lucky, the Meta Quest team will have to go above and above with the launching of the Apple Vision Pro.All things considered, if you're searching for an augmented reality VR headset that you may wear every day and really improve your practical life, purchase the Apple Vision Pro. The capabilities of spatial computing are amazing. Without a doubt, they will alter the workplace, particularly for digital nomads like myself. But if you just want to have some fun and check out some of the many incredible VR games available, save your money and get the Meta Quest 2 instead of the Meta Quest 3, since it isn't worth the upgrade.
