Boss guide for Elden Ring: How to defeat Rykard Lord of Blasphemy in Volcano Manor

Before facing Rykard Lord of Blasphemy in Elden Ring, you need be ready a little. In my instance, I had around 11 Crimson Flasks (+6) and more over 1,000 HP. That meant that even if I took a few knocks, I could still push my way through. Similarly, this specific tactic also calls for a little degree of fire defense.

The Flamedrake Talisman is available for purchase in Limgrave's Groveside Cave dungeon. After defeating Old Knight Istvan, the first Invader mission target, you may get the Scaled Armor set in the interim. You may want to add some more Endurance or talismans that enhance carry weight since it is a tad hefty.Take note: Speaking of Invader missions, before you face Rykard, make sure you've finished all five of them, I've been informed. The quest chain will end and some NPCs will depart if you kill Rykard.Obtaining the Hunter of SerpentsRecall that the ghost of Volcano Manor claimed to have left a weapon capable of killing the beast. You will discover a teleporter that transports you to Site of Grace: Audience Pathway if you are able to defeat every creature in the Legacy Dungeon. The boss arena is located in front of a small cave. You may pick up the Serpent-Hunter from the ground once you enter. You may wear this excellent spear without incurring any penalties since it has no stat requirements. Its intrinsic strength, nevertheless, is what matters most in this situation. The Serpent-Hunt will unleash windstorms while in the boss' arena. A charged assault produces a cutting projectile, whereas a straight stab delivers a lancing blow. These too have a very long range and powerful damage.First of all, This ability is limited to the boss' arena. Outside, the Serpent-Hunt will function like any other weapon.Note 2: The Elden Ring Serpent-Hunt weapon scales more readily with STR (B) than DEX (E). You may respec with a Larval Tear if you'd like. in order to maximize your STR points, albeit it may be a problem if you later on are unable to get more Larval Tears to adjust your build.Elden Ring Phase 1 of the Rykard boss fightYou are up against the God-Devouring Serpent in the first stages of the battle. Its close-quarters assaults are avoidable, so don't worry about them. In order to continue attacking it with the weapon, you should ideally stand near to it or even on the lava (fire resistance). One thing that you should be aware of is an assault that is medium to long range. The God-Devouring Serpent will cause an earthquake with millions of damage if you are too far away. This can be prevented, I've been informed, but it will also drain your energy.Elden Ring Phase 2 of the boss battle with Rykard A cinematic will begin to play when the lizard is killed. Now, in Elden Ring, you will face Rykard the Lord of Blasphemy. Once again, if you're merely hammering hits, it would be preferable to remain close to him or even wade into the lava. Depending on the circumstance, you may use a charged slash or a standard stab. Avoid or block any of his limbs that seem to be going to fall; if you have good health and mitigation, you should be able to survive.Take note: Because of the Serpent-Hunter's very high damage, you have a good chance of destroying Rykard's Super Armor as long as you strike him.Additionally, there are two additional skills to be aware of:

  • Infernal Orb – Rykard will spawn a flaming orb that travels in mid-air. It will leave a trail that will cause explosions shortly.
  • Screaming Skulls – This is a deadly ultimate attack, and also why we don’t want to go too far from him. Rykard will summon multiple skulls that will track and follow you. You can run/sprint away. But, if they catch up, they’ll explode after a split second. They can be blocked, but I wouldn’t suggest it since several of them can hit in quick succession.
You will get the following items after defeating Rykard Lord of Blasphemy in Elden Ring:
  • Remembrance of the Blasphemous – Can be exchanged with Finger Reader Enia to obtain either of these two:
    • Blasphemous Blade (greatsword) – STR 22, DEX 15, and FAI 21; STR (D), DEX (D), and Fai (D).
    • Rykard’s Rancor (Sorcery spell) – INT 40 and FAI 18.
  • Rykard’s Great Rune – This still has no power and needs to be activated. You’ll have to trek all the way to the Divine Tower of West Altus.
Once again, the aforementioned approach consists only of brute-forcing your way through a situation. Watch the video below from YouTuber The Outerhaven to see how the whole battle plays out with greater tactical skill required. (Many thanks, Keith Mitchell!)
