Two of the NPCs you'll encounter in Elden Ring are D and Gurranq. If you fulfill a specific condition, the former will present you to the other. You will eventually amass a few essential things that will provide you prizes. This is our tutorial to help you get Deathroot for Gurranq and D using Elden Ring.
Take note: See our Elden Ring guides and features hub for further details.Where to locate Deathroot for Gurranq and D in the
Elden Ring guide
You initially cross paths with D in Limgrave while traveling east from Saintsbridge. He alerts you to the existence of an entity—the Tibia Mariner boss in Summonwater Village—that grows strength from death. I didn't have to kill the undead necromancer there during my campaign, but you are welcome to do so. Rather, D made a second appearance later in Roundtable Hold's main hall, offering a few Incantation spells for sale.
Assuming you have been using our Limgrave dungeons and secrets guide, let's move on. The boss in Deathtouched Catacombs may have given you a Deathroot key item at that point. This and any other Deathroot you get may be brought to D. Next, he will offer to introduce you to his friend Gurranq, the Caelidan Beast Clergyman.
When you accept the offer, a red location will be noted on your map. It is located in Mistwood, near to the Third Church of Marika, which is also where you obtained the Flask of Wondrous Physick.
To quickly get to the Bestial Sanctum in northern Caelid, look for a little portal next to the grassy region. This is a handy shortcut since the area is filled with deadly foes that would most likely kill you if you were to explore regularly.
Gurranq will behave more like former WWE wrestler Ryback if you talk to him because he wants more food. He's inquiring whether you have any Deathroot available.
Take note: When you offer Gurranq a Deathroot for the first time in Elden Ring, he will grant you the Beast Eye, a crucial item. A Deathroot position will always indicate that the Beast Eye is trembling.Deathroot in Elden Ring is located (as far as I know) in very precise locations:
- Deathtouched Catacombs – Remember, the enemy that we fought in this dungeon in Limgrave was a Black Knife Assassin.
- Black Knife Catacombs – Coincidentally, the first boss in this dungeon in Liurnia is a Black Knife Assassin. However, the second boss, a Cemetery Shade, will spawn a chest that has the item.
- Tibia Mariner – The Tibia Mariner in Summonwater Village (Limgrave) and Wyndham Ruins (Altus Plateau) both drop Deathroots.
Gurranq also offers the following rewards:
- Clawmark Seal (weapon)
- Bestial Vitality (an HP regeneration Incantation spell).
- Beast’s Roar (Ash of War)
