Godrick the Grafted is the major boss of this Legacy Dungeon, and he's just a few steps away from you after you reach the yard of Stormveil Castle in Elden Ring. He's a formidable man, so if you time your spellcasts or shoots incorrectly, it may be quite the agony. Here is our Elden Ring boss guide to assist you in defeating Stormveil Castle's primary boss, Godrick the Grafted.

A tutorial explaining how to defeat Godrick the Grafted with Elden Ring

A few noteworthy techniques of Godrick the Grafted in Elden Ring are as follows:

  • Melee – All of his melee hits will annihilate you if you’re not careful. They’ll eat through your stamina and they have wide, near-360-degree arcs.
  • Whirlwind – Godrick’s bread and butter is his whirlwind ability. While he’s casting this, it’s able to deflect all projectiles and offensive spells. You’ll be wasting your ammo and FP if you mistime your attacks.
  • Whirlwind Projectile – After the short casting time, Godrick will toss two wind projectiles that will home in on your location. These can be avoided, but you need to be wary of their trajectory. Still, it’s possible to use the tombstones to block the path of these projectiles, or hug a wall as long as it’s between you and Godrick’s line of sight.
Nepheli Loux and summons are NPC helpers

A golden sign will enable you to summon Nepheli Loux's assistance before each try if you speak with her at the yard. Although her damage output isn't very high, she can hold her own for a while and recover at least once. The majority of your summons at this point in the game are worthless since Godrick's AoE will likely destroy them.

Regardless of your preference for close-quarters combat, long-range damage, or spellcasting, defeating Godrick the Grafted in Elden Ring revolves on timing your dodges and using Nepheli Loux as a distraction.

Phase 2

A movie will start when Godrick's health reaches 50%. He will effectively get a flamethrower by snatching the dead dragon's head and fastening it to his arm. He'll possess a few cool skills:

  • Flame Whirlwind and Projectile – This time, the tornado that he does will be infused with flames. If you get hit, there’s an additional animation where your character is flailing around due to getting scorched.
  • Flamethrower – Godrick’s other attack is a frontal sweep with the dragon’s head. The only way to avoid this is to roll clockwise toward the flame as it’s about to hit you. Poor timing will cause you to get burned.

You will find a few things in Elden Ring after defeating Godrick the Grafted. The Remembrance of the Grafted is the first. Return to the Roundtable and speak with Finger Reader Enia (the prophet in the chamber of Two Fingers). This may be exchanged for one of the following two rewards:

  • Axe of Godrick (greataxe)
    • Skill – I Command Thee, Kneel!
    • Requirements – Str 34 and Dex 22
    • Scaling – Str D and Dex D
  • Grafted Dragon (fist)
    • Skill – Bear Witness!
    • Requirements – Str 20, Dex 14, and Fai 16
    • Scaling – Str D, Dex D, and Fai D.
Take note: As you are now in Roundtable Hold, you may get the Arsenal Charm from Nepheli Loux (she is in one of the halls) and Rogier's Rapier from Sorcerer Rogier (he is at the balcony). Here is also where you may meet Roderika, beginning her own quest that would ultimately allow you to upgrade your Spirit Ash Summons.

In any event, Godrick's Great Rune is the other important item you will get. Although it is currently powerless, you will be able to find a means to make the Great Rune active. You could also go to the next area, which is known as Liurnia of the Lakes.
