Composer Mick Gordon of Doom Eternal released a rather shocking statement last week on his experiences working with Marty Stratton, the director of id Software Studio. The official Doom Eternal soundtrack, according to Gordon, was a letdown after he endured a tough work atmosphere where Stratton insisted on unreasonably strict deadlines and abrupt, radical direction changes. Gordon's accusations were in stark contrast to a statement made public by Stratton two years before, in which the composer was basically held accountable for the soundtrack's subpar quality due to his alleged underperformance. Currently, Bethesda has responded on Twitter, refuting every accusation made by the Doom Eternalcomposer.

The Bethesda reaction to the charges of Doom Eternal

According to Bethesda, "Gordon both mischaracterized and misrepresented" not just Stratton and id Software's chief audio designer Chad Mossholder, but also the whole studio team and the Doom Eternal production process. Then, Bethesda said that it supports the id Software team and that it has "full and complete documented evidence" that it can provide upon request.

Furthermore, according to the firm, id Software employees Stratton and Mossholder have been the target of harassment and physical threats as a result of Gordon's claims. Then, Bethesda advised fans to refrain from drawing hasty judgments and pestering all parties involved, especially Gordon.

Many of the Twitter users who have reacted to Bethesda's announcement so far don't seem to be persuaded. Several responses swiftly pointed out that Gordon treated the game's developers with nothing but respect, despite Bethesda's claims that he leveled accusations against the id Software team. Gordon's complaints were solely directed toward Stratton, Mossholder, and the company's higher management.

The fact that Bethesda merely said it would give evidence "as needed" and Gordon included many receipts in his Medium article to support his claims did not help. If and when Bethesda releases this evidence in the future, only time will tell.
