The 2018 horror-survival game The Forest from Endnight has a sequel called Sons of the Forest. Since its Early Access launch, the game has gathered 414,000 peak concurrent players, ranking among the most popular titles on Steam. To be honest, there's a lot to be thrilled about, including the prospect of exploring a new island and learning fresh mysteries.
Naturally, as this is still an Early Access title, there will inevitably be some jank. While certain problems (like the item duplication exploit) might be very entertaining or helpful, others could be damaging to your pleasure. Nevertheless, I'm still curious to see the whole tale revealed.
The island
In the opening scene of Sons of the Forest, your character is assigned to a task team tasked with tracking down and rescuing a millionaire, his wife, and their daughter. Your chopper gets shot down out of nowhere and lands on one of many potential sites. Just as you start to gently get up, a gunman slaps you across the head. After that, a soldier named Kelvin, another survivor, is introduced to you. After that, you take a short jaunt to a neighboring base camp where you gradually pick up the fundamentals of crafting, the cold, and your stats, among other things. After that, you start exploring really, and the island starts to come to life. The central mountain range has snow-capped summits that often bring on bone-chilling blizzards. You may follow several rivers from sloping pathways all the way to the shore. Then, in the more temperate areas, copious copse of trees conceal perils that wait in the shadows, and magnificent waterfalls adorn the landscape. It's made easier by the graphically diverse and vivid settings of Sons of the Forest; there are moments when you'd just want to stop and soak in your surroundings.Captured using AnyBet365Fighting cannibals and savagely attacking mutantsHowever, you cannot just stand by since there are still several hazards in Sons of the Forest. Cannibals are a common sight on the overworld map. They may sometimes be seen observing you from a distance, but they can also move toward you maliciously. A few objects may assist you in your attempts to frighten or divert them. The Red Mask, for example, will manage to fool them in some way. If not, you may try hurriedly crafting a Spear to keep them away. Guns like Pistols will also, of course, alert them to their impending demise, but you may just as easily enrage them.In addition to cannibals, mutants that lurk in shadowy tunnels are another threat you must face. Many variations exist, including the sluggish and shambling ones, the monsters with dual heads and many legs, and even the little, ferocious infants that I refer to as “Tiyanaks” (as Filipinos would understand). Here's where Sons of the Forest really grabs your attention: venturing into the unknown while surrounded by nothing but shadows, ominous music, and strange sounds. Maybe you'll use a shotgun to shoot these animals to smithereens or use a chainsaw to shred them to pieces. In any case, you'll be kept alert by the tight environment and possible scares.Captured using AnyBet365It seems like crafting was neglected in Sons of the Forest. This is probably just because I choose to play as a lone player when playing in cooperative mode could be more enjoyable. Rather of creating a massive base, I found myself more keen to find new weapon caches and inspect buildings for keycards. Similar to this, keeping track of my inventory seemed like a laborious task, particularly without quickswap equipment hotkeys. It was somewhat immersive, but not very charming when looking at it just as a mechanical device. So I simply kept moving forward, without caring too much about survival principles (I had plenty of food, freshwater was readily available, and homemade tents worked well for both shelter and rest).
