Elden Ring is a very large game, and just like any adventure, there will eventually be no way back. This is our Elden Ring guide to help you understand the Roundtable Hold, Melina's destiny, the Forge of the Giants choice, and the point of no return.
Elden Ring guide: Melina, the point of no return, and the Giants' decision-making forge
The Giants' choice at the Forge marked the first point of no return. The Forge of Giants is located in Elden Ring. after the Fire Giant's defeat. Once there, you may see Melina and take a nap in the Site of Grace. When the time is right, she'll ask you. It's okay if you beg her to wait. But you'll have to consent if we're to move the campaign further.
If this is done, a movie scene where Melina burns herself in the Giants' Forge will be produced. She'll turn into the Kindling that lights the Erdtree on fire.

However, this is just the first step. Following the movie, you'll enter Crumbling Farum Azula, a whole different area encircled by enormous tornadoes and vortices.
Take note: This scenario may also be imagined in which your character serves as the kindling. To do this, you must locate the Three Fingers and the Flame of Frenzy.AnyBet365 screenshot
Before we go too far ahead of ourselves, this is essentially Elden Ring's first "soft" point of no return. You are allowed to visit Roundtable Hold when the Erdtree is burning. You'll see there that a number of the NPCs are either dead or have departed. For example, Fia (the hugger woman) is no longer in existence, although I'm not sure whether you may encounter her or a version) in another location. In the meanwhile, D's body is located in a chamber beyond Blacksmith Hewn's passageway. D's Bell Bearing and the Twinned Armor Set will be available for you to get.
You may see Sorcerer Rogier, who is near death, if you go to the balcony. Rogier would be dead by the time you arrive, even if he loses the Spellblade Armor Set and his Bell Bearing, later on after some advancement or rapid travel. If you haven't been to Nokron Eternal City yet, Rogier's letter also informs you about it (apparently, D's brother is stuck there).
Take note: Many NPCs will remain, including Blacksmith Hewn (for your weapon upgrades), Roderika (for your Spirit Ash upgrades), Finger Reader Enia (so you can continue exchanging Remembrances), and the Twin Maiden Husks (for your Bell Bearings, including D's and Rogier's).AnyBet365 screenshot
The second point of no return is: After defeating Crumbling Farum AzulaLet's assume, nevertheless, that you made more progress in Crumbling Farum Azula. Bosses like Maliketh the Black Blade and Dragonlord Placidusax (Morathi not mentioned) may be faced there. Maliketh is a must for the campaign, although Placidusax is an optional boss. The Rune of Death will become active when you beat him. In Elden Ring, this is yet another point of no return.
You will find yourself in Leyndell Ashen Capital after the cinematic. The Royal Capital has vanished, partially obscured by wreckage and ruins. Many locations, including the Roundtable building and the main roadway, will not be accessible due to the changes made to this domain's layout. To combat Mohg the Omen, you may still explore the Subtereannean Shunning-Grounds and Leyndell Catacombs if you have previously marked the Underground Roadside Site of Grace.
Some small changes have occurred in Roundtable Hold, such as Enia seeming more lifeless than before (although you may still trade Remembrances) and Hewn losing the ability to understand why the area is on fire. Don't worry, all of the usual vendor features are still available. Even so, Gideon Ofnir is now missing, but he will soon be discovered in the capital.
Take note: The Age of Order and Age of Despair are two endings that are impacted by this as you may not be able to pick up certain items/requirements.AnyBet365 screenshot
Will Melina pass away at the Forge?
Indeed, When you decide to burn the Erdtree, Melina does indeed die. and advance the primary narrative. But if you locate the Flame of Frenzy and Three Fingers in the underground Shunning Grounds under Lyendell, the Royal Capital, you may rescue Melina.
You may save Melina from death by sacrificing yourself as the Kindling while burning the Erdtree in the Forge of Giants if you find the Flame of Frenzy and Three Fingers. Selecting this option will also enable a special epilogue once you kill Elden Ring's last boss.
Things to accomplish in the Forge of Giants prior to setting fire to the Erdtree

Burning the Erdtree at the Forge of the Giants will cause a few NPCs to either die or disappear. In light of this, you should try to finish any side quest. Before opting to burn the Erdtree, you're either interested in seeing the project through to the conclusion or are actively working on it. Ensha, D'Hunter of the Dead, and Corhyn are a few instances of NPCs that are unreachable beyond the point of no return.
Also, you need to investigate Leyndell, Royal Capital in detail before setting fire to the Erdtree in the Forge of the Giants, as much as feasible. The primary cause of this is because after burning the Erdtree, the whole Leyndell dungeon transforms, locking you out and maybe preventing you from finding uncommon items.
