At QuakeCon 2021, Quake remastered was unveiled, and it is now playable.

You know, some secrets simply can't remain

You know, some secrets simply can't remain secret. Following Bethesda's revelation of the death knight last week, more proof of a remastered Quake continued coming in. The Microsoft Store opened the information page for Quake about an hour before the program started, and the game was rated (twice) before the show even started. No, this was not intended to remain a secret. At QuakeCon 2021, Quake remastered was finally unveiled. It has improved visuals and new features, and it's just $9.99 USD right now.

To be clear, contrary to what some people may have thought, this is not a remake of the game. Hell, I even had dreams about a brand-new Quake that was radically redesigned to resemble Wolfenstein: The New Order. After all, Quake Remastered is a product of MachineGames, the company behind Wolfenstein. Together with a brand-new expansion by MachineGames dubbed Dimension of the Machine, the game will include both of its expansions. Nightdive Studios, the same company that brought fresh life to classic shooters like Doom 64 and Turok, handled Quake. Quake remastered will have features not available in its 1996 release. The game will support contemporary resolution settings and run in full widescreen. Because of improvements made to its new lighting system, its evocative medieval building really pops. The restored version of Quake retains all of its original sound effects, including explosions, moans, and the splattering of gore. And Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails' fantastic music makes everything come to life.

Take care of yourself too

Earthquake Multiplayer is included in the remastered version, just as in the original. Up to three friends may play the game together locally or online in four-player split-screen mode. The intense and relentless PvP multiplayer that helped make Quake a household brand will also be included in the game. In addition, it will allow official and community-made modifications, the first of which being Quake 64. It will also have cross-play.

The PC remaster of Quake is now accessible. The improved edition is free for owners of the original game, but it will only cost $9.99 USD when it is purchased fresh. It will even allow you to choose between the previous and improved graphics.
