The release of Elden Ring is imminent. It's one of the most eagerly awaited games of the year and will definitely draw in a large number of new supporters. As a member of the Tarnished, you will go to the Erdtree (hmm, what?) by exploring the Lands Between in quest of the Shardbearers. Avoid asking. It's not simple.
Still, we need to find out how Elden Ring works inside. With that, let's look at the system requirements to start our Elden Ring technical study.
Elden Ring - Required systems
MAXIMUM - CPU: INTEL CORE I5-8400 or AMD RYZEN 3 3300X
- RAM: 12 GB RAM
- GPU: NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 1060 3 GB or AMD RADEON RX 580 4 GB
SUGGESTIBLE CPU: INTEL CORE I7-8700K or AMD RYZEN 5 3600X RAM: 16 GB RAM GPU: NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 1070 8 GB or AMD RADEON RX VEGA 56 8 GB <
REVIEWER - CPU: Intel Core i9-10900K
- RAM: 32 GB RAM
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080
The system requirements for Elden Ring are taken from the Steam store page. Be warned, they are heavy and will probably catch some
Souls series veterans off guard. I meet all of the suggested specs, even though I use a 4K TV and the specs stated are for 1080p gaming.
Elden Ring - Settings for graphics
The Elden Ring's basic graphical settings enable you to choose the resolution and transition between windowed and borderless fullscreen (select borderless fullscreen if necessary) or fullscreen. Additionally, four presets—Low, Medium, High, and Maximum—can be identified automatically.Similarly, it's important to remember that
Elden Ring seems to be turned on by default, however the settings page lacks VSync. Furthermore, neither DLSS nor ray tracing are supported at this time. Regardless, the advanced graphics options are shown below:
Elden Ring Comparing graphics
I've utilized three sets of screenshots for our
Elden Ring technical review visuals comparison section. The first two are meant to display the Low, High, and Ultra preset results both inside and outdoors. The last one is the distinction between when screen space ambient occlusion (SSAO) is switched on and off. For a closer look, click on any of the pictures below.

OutsideLow preset, High preset, and Maximum setting.
SSAOmaximum SSAO.SSAO is not active.
Microstutters and performance
I can play
Elden Ring at the highest setting (with motion blur deactivated) at 55–60 frames per second with my setup. Remember, this is on a 4K monitor. Additionally, remember that
Elden Ring is
capped at 60 fps on PC, much like
Sekiro before it. There is, however, a very significant warning: framerate reductions and micro stutters sometimes occur. These moments, of course, will not continue forever. However, stuttering might be problematic while you're battling foes or going along a ledge. Uncomfortable misses might result from a micro stutter or abrupt fps loss since parry windows need good timing. Playing at 1440p or lowering the settings does help to some extent, but if the problem persists, make sure to adjust anti-aliasing, shadows, and SSAO.I should also mention that I sometimes had three-second freezes. These were typically caused by quickly snapping many screenshots. There is no picture mode either since the game cannot be halted.
Control settings, game, and camera
The game settings, which are mostly for targeting and aiming, are shown below:Setting up the camera is also a given:The controls for the gamepad are as follows, with customizable buttons:Finally, here are the keyboard shortcuts that are also modifiable. Though you may have two keybinds,
Elden Ring only utilizes one command for skills, which is one point worth discussing here. This implies that if you're wielding a shield and a one-handed weapon, the shield's parry will trigger instead of any Ash of War abilities on your weapon. I still haven't figured out how to activate a weapon's ability while it has a shield attached, short of taking off the shield and using the weapon with two hands.Your Use Item key is comparable to that. You may still choose from the same selection pool that contains your lantern, summoning spells, whistle to summon your steed, consumables/flasks, and summoning spells even if you have two distinct keys assigned.
Audio and display configurations
The same panel has the sound and display settings. In case you want crisper images or videos, you can also turn off the HUD here.
Network configuration
Lastly, you may adjust a few parameters pertaining to online and offline play on the network settings page. Although cross-play is not enabled at this time, console players may still play with other members of their own group (i.e., owners of PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5).
Elden Ring From a technological perspective
Elden Ring showcases stunning graphics and amazing open-world layout. Unfortunately, during fighting, framerate decreases and micro stutters may get quite annoying. If you want everything to run as smoothly as possible, there are techniques to lessen the problem. You may visit our
official review to find out more about the gaming mechanics, fights, and what to anticipate as you go.
