On August 2, well-known developers of classic action games Treasure and Live Wire, creators of Ender Lilies, announced the Steam rerelease of the 1998 shooter Radiant Silvergun. Almost a year after the Switch port of Radiant Silvergun that shadow dropped on the day of its presentation, this will happen on August 18.

Fans of Treasure may recall that in September of last year, leaks surfaced pertaining to an announcement Treasure was planning to make at the time about the Radiant Silvergun IP. This sparked considerable conjecture as to whether Treasure will reveal a full-fledged sequel or just a straightforward rerelease of Radiant Silvergun . We now know, of course, that the announcement was about the former, as the Switch rerelease was released only a few days after the leaks. Although it was undoubtedly thrilling for Treasure aficionados at the time, the absence of a PC port probably disappointed some. Thankfully, this impending Steam release allows those fans to celebrate.

What to anticipate from Radiant Silvergun on Steam

Acting as a spiritual forerunner of the more popular shoot-em-up games Ikaruga and Radiant Silvergunleads players through six intensely action-packed stages with foes that are grouped according to color. Players' score will be significantly increased and their weapon power will be upgraded if they beat numerous opponents of the same color. From the beginning, players have a lot of choices when it comes to fighting; they may mix different gun kinds and use a sword to hit adversaries and deflect certain projectiles. With 23 enemies to defeat, Radiant Silvergunis no exception to the Treasure pattern of having a ton of difficult, often inventive bosses. The additional features included in the Xbox 360 and Switch editions of Radiant Silvergun are carried over to the Steam version of the game. These include the additional challenging settings and online leaderboards that are now standard in contemporary shoot 'em up games. Furthermore, the feature that was included in those earlier versions to switch the scoring system to that of Ikaruga is still present in the Steam version.
