A lot of information has been published on the several ways that the COVID-19 epidemic affected the creation of video games. The challenges of cooperating and working from home sometimes led to postponed release dates. Even if these circumstances weren't perfect, several projects were able to deploy mostly undamaged. However, in a few cases, the pandemic's pressures had a much greater negative effect on growth. For example, developer id Software recently revealed that the highly anticipated free Invasion Mode upgrade for Doom Eternalwill not be happening. This news was announced by the developer on the Slayers Club website.
Despite the pandemic impeding its ability to release the Invasion Mode upgrade, id Software said that it still intends to make up for this setback in light of the great comments players have provided on the expansions and master levels. Currently, id Software is working on a brand-new single-player horde mode that will provide more of the challenging gameplay and diversity that fans of Doom Eternal love. Along with "a more competitive, rank-based structure, a number of gameplay and balance updates and another new map," the company also intends to add additional features to the game's Battlemode.
What took happened earlier?
This information was released only three days after Update 6. The game's graphics were enhanced, ray tracing was added, and problems with the multiplayer servers were resolved with the update. The update also included a new map for the Battlemode and the inclusion of the Taras Nabad Master Level, which offered players additional prizes and challenges.
Even if the cancellation of the Invasion Mode upgrade made sense under the particular situation, fans of Doom Eternalwill probably still be disappointed by the news. In spite of this, the planned horde mode and other upcoming improvements give Doom Eternal a promising future. Fans should surely pay attention to the next QuakeCon in August, as id Software has promised to reveal additional details there.
